HBOR Committee Descriptions

Professional Standards- Meets as Needed

To ensure members' adherence to high ethical standards; to arbitrate disputes between members; and investigate complaints from the public.  Responsible for conducting hearings in matters involving alleged ethical misconduct by Board Members, or to provide arbitration facilities as requested.  In conjunction with the Education Committee, conduct programs designed to increase Board Members’ awareness and understanding of the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Realtors.  Make recommendations concerning amendments to the Board’s Ethics and Arbitrations Manual.

Professional Standards Training by NC REALTORS is required.

Grievance- Meets as Needed

To investigate all complaints and to determine whether or not they warrant further consideration by a Hearing Panel of the Professional Standards Committee.

Community Advocacy Committee- Meets Year Round

This committee oversees the following activities and events:

  • R-PAC / Political Affairs/ Fundraising
  • Annual Charity Golf Tournament
  • Community Service Events including Realtors Care Day (RCD)
  • Habitat for Humanity Build
  • Disbursement of the annual $3000 to charity

To encourage Board members to dedicate service to improve the quality of life in your community through involvement with the general public, local coalitions of community groups, governmental agencies, elected officials and business organizations.

Establish Programs to keep all Board members informed of local, state and national government activities which affect the industry.  Provide continuing political education programs for all members and assist in the developing of the political strength necessary to support the activities of our State and National Committees.  Study local, state and national legislative programs and recommend policy and action to the Board of Directors.  Respond to NAR “Call to Action” requests by studying the issues involved and drafting a reply for the RPAC Committee, review candidates requesting RPAC Committee funds, in conjunction with the Board of Directors concerning the distribution of funds.

For RPAC, set goals, plan and implement programs designed to collect funds used in the support of campaigns for candidates running for local, state and national offices, who, by their voting records display a positive attitude towards the Free Enterprise System, the Real Estate Industry and private property rights.  Enlighten the membership as to the meaning and importance of RPAC.

Finance & Budget Committee- Meets Year Round

Prepare, revise, and audit the Board’s budget and its presentation when appropriate.  Plan for future financial requirements based on the recommendations of the other Board Committees as approved by the Board of Directors.  Anticipate future financial needs and recommend methods of obtaining needed revenues to adequately support a well-balanced program of activities for members.  Review and make recommendations concerning the use of investment of reserve funds.

Member Engagement Committee- Meets Year Round

This committee oversees the following activities and events:

  • General membership meeting
  • Mixers
  • New Member Orientation and/ or Meet-Up
  • Continuing Education, MLS Education, Lunch and Learn
  • Mastermind Forums and Expert Panels
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

To encourage and foster active participation and involvement among our members. With a focus on creating meaningful connections and providing valuable resource, the committee strives to enhance the overall experience of our members. Through organizing events, facilitating networking opportunities, and implementing innovative strategies, the committee aims to promote a sense of belonging and encourage members to contribute their unique perspectives and talents.

Education- provides directional input and serves as a sounding board for all educational programs and opportunities

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Hendersonville Board of REALTORS®, representing over 1300 REALTORS® who reside in our diverse communities, embodies our REALTOR® Code of Ethics, the governing document which protects the housing rights of all the people, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual origin, or gender identity.  We embrace equality and inclusivity, honoring individuals and respecting differing perspectives to reach common goals for the betterment of all.  Racism and discrimination have no home here.

Bylaws Committee- Meets as Needed

Annually examining the bylaws in order to recommend changes, amendments, or modifications to ensure compliance with the law, compliance with our trade organization, and keep the association efficient in its government, and relevant to the needs of the members.

Nominating Committee- Meets Third Quarter

Section 4. Election of Officers and Directors.
(a) At least two months before the annual election, a nominating committee of four REALTOR members shall be appointed by the president with the approval of the board of directors. The nominating committee shall select one candidate for each office and one candidate for each place to be filled on the board of directors.
