Dispute Resolution

Ethics Complaints, Arbitration, and Related Information

Realtors® set themselves apart by committing to a strict Code of Ethics—something that non-member licensees are not required to follow. If you believe a Realtor® has violated the Code, you have the right to file an ethics complaint through the local Realtor® association where that member holds their membership or participates in a Realtor®-owned or operated MLS. The Hendersonville Board of Realtors® (HBOR) will faciliate ethics complaints for members of its board. To determine if a Realtor® is a member of HBOR, please click here.

As part of their membership, Realtors® also agree to resolve certain contractual and specific non-contractual disputes through arbitration, as outlined in Article 17 of the Code of Ethics.

Consumer Complaints

If a consumer has a complaint against an HBOR Realtor® member, they should contact Symantha Gragg, HBOR's Association Executive at (828) 693-9642. HBOR can guide you through the process of filing an ethics complaint or arbitration request, depending on the nature of the issue. Realtor® members are held to the standards of the National Association of Realtors® Code of Ethics, and local boards are responsible for enforcing those standards to ensure professionalism and accountability in the real estate industry.
